2 Stars lucky i got a good price on it
I’ve been using this computer for less than a year and one of the buttons is already falling off . The unit’s response time is slower than the old ones I had in the 90′s. I should have bought another Cateye. That one lasted me a good five years on my old GT.

1 Star Sensor did not work
Putting it on my bike was pretty easy but I couldn’t get the sensor to work. No matter how much I spun my wheel or how close I put the sensors together, the computer wouldn’t register anything.

I sent it back and got a wired computer, which works perfectly

4 Stars Simple and easy to use
I run the RT88 on 3 of my bikes, and have done for several years. I like the simplicity and low price. I have had no problems with reliability. Battery life is good. I’ve ridden centuries and large group rides in many locations in northern California and haven’t had any problems with interference. This unit has everything I need, nothing I don’t, it’s cheap, reliable and easy to use.

I use more sophisticated units such as Cateye double and Polar on the indoor trainer when I want lots of data, but for road use, I found the Vetta is ideal.

after 15 miles it has malfunctioned. Even with battery changes, realignment, it fails to record any speed or distance. Poor equipment.

This model is easy to use and pretty accurate. I bought this one to replace the same model that I had for six years but I managed to smash it up pretty good on a rock . Even after that it still worked but the screen and mounting bracket were cracked. Not that flashy but for the price you can’t beat it.

2 Stars Erratic Reset
I purchased this device in April. Now, it is September. The first problem that appeared was its inability to keep accurate time. The clock advances too fast. I first noticed this maybe two months ago. The first couple times there was a difference I would reset/adjust the clock. It kept happening, so I decided to leave it alone for a month and the clock was over 20 minutes off by then. Then the past week, new problems. Now, it resets randomly and enters setup mode. Not sure why, but its in setup mode and the settings/clock is reset in the morning when I ride to work and the evening on the way home. Finally, now the light does not turn off. Arrggh! There is no indication on the device of a weak battery. Seems that device is problematic. I will attempt to get this replaced as it should still be under warranty. I did like the device for all its features in the beginning. Hopefully, it’s just my device. Anyway, buyer beware.

The computer works great with one serious exception. When using the computer while I have my “NiteRider” bicycle light turned on, the computer readings become erratic. (Same thing happens when riding under power lines, but those are typically only for brief periods of time.) I attempted to contact Vetta customer service to see if there was anything that might be done to prevent this, but got no reply. Other than that, it’s a great device and very easy to setup and operate.

4 Stars Simple and effective, but lots of wires
I purchased the Vetta RT77 as my first cyclometer. This was the most basic recommended model I could find that had cadance. Installation went well and the unit functions very nicely, though the instructions were not clear in places. Everything works and works well. When, not if, I replace this cyclometer with a better one it will be wireless as the mess of wires is a little ugly even after spending some time carefully routing and dressing them. I will walk carefully through the interface of the next cyclomter as this one is at least a little unintuitive. After a couple of weeks of use I’m still having to stop, look at the display, and think for a minute to get to the display I want when I want a change.

That said the Vetta RT77-13 is a great value and worked well for me.

The Vetta RT77 is an excellent, yet cheap cyclometer with cadence. It isn’t overly fancy, but it is sturdy and relatively easy to use. Unless you’re looking for wireless, there’ no reason to spend more.

4 Stars Great for checking cadence
I purchased this product specifically because I wanted an easy (and cheap) way to check my cadence during spin workouts.

This unit was very easy to set up using the included instructions although I did have to do a minimal amount of jury-rigging due to having a spin cycle instead of a bicycle. I appropriated a magnet from an old refrigerator magnet for the speed/distance measurement because the included magnet is not made to attach to a fly wheel. For the cadence measurement I had to create a mount for the sensor so that the magnet attached to the crank would activate it. I also used a tape measure and Google (for the math formulas) to come up with the circumference of the fly wheel to enter into the computer.

All in all it appears to be fairly accurate and I am very pleased with my purchase.

4 Stars Character Visibility
I have bought Vetta’s computer before. This one seems to have a cheaper “feel” to it. I don’t like the tactile feedback from the buttons as well, and the display does not line up with the opening in the frame quite right.

The digits on the right side are partially hidden by the frame. For example, if there is a ’1′ on the right side, you can’t see it well.

I still like the functions; but I will think twice before getting another one whenever this one “wears out”.

1 Star Hear rate function is not reliable
I bought this product for the heart rate function. However, it is unreliable about 95% of the time. According to the computer, my heart rate would vary from 146 to 228 within a matter of a couple of seconds even though my effort had not changed. By the way, my max heart rate is 198. The cycling functions work OK but I would buy a more solid one for the money. This computer has a cheap feel to it.

This is a good product that I have used for several years. I found the Vetta people quite responsive to warranty claims and the computer does everything it says it does very well. The mileage is very accurate. My only negative observation is that the batteries have to be changed more than once per season in regular use.

1 Star Someone tell us how to buy a good bike computer please.
The Vetta RT277 is a bike computer that provides cadence, still can’t get it to work right, and distance and speed (all ok here). I use this on a trainer in my basement…that is proabably all I would recommend it for. IF you plant to use it on the road, buy your own plastic zip ties. The ones that come with the computer are about as cheap and poorly put together as the instructions and the device itself. Altogether, it works but I’m relatively disappointed with the quality of engineering and thought into actual installation and use that went into this device.

I have had this for several months and still can not get the cadence to work. Don’t waste your money on this POS.

Update – After numerous emails with the mfg’r and the total lack of function of the unit, they finally agreed to replace the unit. Waiting for their response with a non functional unit and about to go on a trip, I bought a Cateye with cadence and it works fine. So much for Vetta. Now let’s see if I can get my money back.

This computer works great. The wiring for the pickup is even long enough to mount the wheel speed on the rear wheel. I was using a wireless computer and having trouble with interference and false readings…this is leaps and bounds better!
