I used to use a Timex GPS that had a separate watch, a GPS unit that strapped to my arm, a heart monitor strap, and a receiver to tie them together on my belt. The Garmin has just a watch and a heart monitor strap. It is much easier to use, and the software is fairly simple to figure out. It is not the prettiest thing, but it beats having 4 thing attached when I run!!

My wife bought me the Garmin Forerunner 301 for Christmas. I had wanted only a heart rate monitor, but this GPS device was a pleasant surprise! It works wonderful. It is simple in design and in ease of use. It appears slightly bulky, but when I wore it on my run, it didn’t bother me. In fact the large screen was easy to read. I mainly do 5K runs, so it’s not like I’m wearing it for an extended period of time either. But all in all, for what I use it for, it exceeds my expectations!

I have been wanting to purchase a Garmin Forerunner. I looked at all the different units available and compaired different evaluations on all the Forerunners from a different website and saw that overall this unit was rated highly by its users. I LOVE this GPS!!!

So far – ease of use, the features offered are easy to access, and this product included a CD to load the proper program on my computer. The sync process is easy and the graphics on the program show me where I need to improve. I haven’t utilized the heartrate monitor yet so I will not be rating this.

Overall I am very please with the Garmin Forerunner 301.

When i first started running i had a horrible time pacing myself and would burn out way to easily. After purchasing this device i saw i was able to keep a more solid pace on my runs and withing 1 month of using it i saw my 1.5mile run time go from 13mins to about 11mins. This is a must have for any kind of runner due to its versatility.

4 Stars heart monitor
I like it. I haven’t had a chance to figure out all the features yet, but I’m not sure if I’ll need to use all of them anyway. It’s been pretty easy to use so far. The only compaint is that the band that goes around the chest rubs on my skin and I’ve gotten a little chaffing. But I have pretty sensitive skin, so it’s probably more to do with me than the actual product.

1 Star Terrible customer service
I bought this heart monitor on the recomendation of a friend who has one. Unfortunately the company (Joma) did not allow for a size selection. They sent a M which would not fit me. I called the customer service number to try and exchange it for a larger size. It took 25 min to get through only to be told that was “the only one we had”. I then asked how to go about returning it, and was told I had to print out a form and mail it in for a “return code”. However they only allow returns 30 days from when they shipped it to me, and since they took 3 weeks to get it here, and a week to respond to my email so that time is gone now. I would strongly recommend trying a different vendor of the item. Which looks like it would work great…if only it was my size.

5 Stars Awesome HRM
I purchased this HRM 1 month ago and I just love it. This is my first one ever. I learned about it from someone in my spinning class that said, don’t bother messing with the $50-$60 varieties. This was her 3rd HRM and she urged me to just spring for the Polar $100 and I would be much happier. I am!!! I find it pretty easy to learn and navigate my way around. I do boot camp every MWF and found another person in class that also recently purchased the same watch. We compared calories burned and they were pretty close. I find this to be more reliable in telling me calories burned verses what the gym equipment tells me. i.e. I use the eliptical at the gym and my HRM shows I burned 150 calories when the machine says 220. I feel that based on my HR, age and weight, it gives me a more accurate account. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good reliable HRM.

4 Stars Excellent Product – Even if you’re sasquatch!
I have been very, very pleased with this product so far, after having been using it 3-4 times a week since December ’08 and 5-6 times a week since March ’09. It has performed extremely well even with my (sorry to say) very hairy chest.

If I could have given it 4.5 stars I would have, but the fact that you have to send it away to get the battery changed is sort of hassle. Overall, though, I highly recommend this. Very, very happy with it.

4 Stars Polar F6 – good heart rate monitor, but….
I like the Polar F6 heart rate monitor, but, it is a little uncomfortable for me. For women who wear an underwire bra, it is not very easy to wear. Because of the underwire, I have a hard time getting it in the right position, and when I do, it cuts into me because of the bra. I wish there was another place to wear it, or if they could come up with an alternative heart rate monitor design.

yes your getting a great price but polar wont honor warranties from non polar authorized dealers. these people buy from 3rd parties thats why the price is so low. so if some tech prob goes wrong just throw it in the garbage because you wont be able to fix the problem.

I have had this product for a month. The machine itself is great and is both a pleasure to use as well as highly useful for improving your cycling.

Less can be said, however, for the software. I have been plagued by problems in uploading data and have wasted hours on it. Next time I will go for something with USB accessibility as the sonic port system is very troublesome.

As I am training to both compete as a road cyclist and maintain cardiovascular fitness, this product seemingly had all the details I required. Like all products/investments, I researched several computers and read countless reviews. Every product has its share of negative feedback. It all comes down to what you what parameters you require, and whether or not you want additional cables/wires vs. a wireless setup. 3 Stars Cateye CS200cad Cycling Computer Review
This computer does everything as advertised. I found it difficult to set up and use all its functions. The learning curve is fairly steep (I’ve been out of cycling for a while); keep the instruction book handy. I did not have a particularly difficult time setting the sensors. One thing I was disappointed in is the wireless range is very limited. If you want to put the speed sensor on the rear wheel then this unit is not for you. Also the crank arm attachment for the cadence sensor is not very good. The tape provided is not very sticky. I suggest going to your local hardware store and buying electrical tape in a color to match your bike. If I was buying again I would not buy this unit; I would probably buy a wired unit instead. One other thing is if you want cadence on the big display I don’t think it can be done. The heart rate monitor worked very well if you follow positioning instructions.
