User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Sigma BC1606L with rear wheel harness I just bought this item. It includes two harnesses. One for the front wheel and one for the rear wheel. It also includes the optional wired sensor to measure cadence and of course the bike computer itself. I am please with the unit so far and I installed it on the rear wheel of my bike that is on a Kurt Kenetic trainer. It works well for both speed and cadence. Now I can judge the kind of effort I am using and can up my game as time goes on. The only problem was that the install instructions leave a lot to be desired. I figured it out but it took about an hour for the install. The package also does not come with a list of items included in the box either which was a little frustrating. These were not really big problems but Sigma should address them for the future. I recommend this unit to anybody who wants a bike computer with a wire rear wheel sensor.

5 Stars Works Great! We've had this a few weeks. I purchased for my wife's bike so she could use it with the indoor trainer. This was one of the cheapest ones I could find that would work for the rear wheel. It also has the cadence monitor. Pretty easy to understand, not too difficult to set-up. It has a back-light on it, so once you press a button it will light up for a few seconds. Probably could have used a couple more zip-ties with it, but I had some.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Good value for money
Finally,I know exactly the distance I am going!Plus average speed max speed and time on the bicycle. The only non accurate display is the calories burnt.I wear a HRM and my number at the end is by far bigger! So don’t rely on this a lot….Easy to mount and use just a push of only one button.I like the cateye products. They look good and they are easy to use.

5 Stars Easy to install
I had no trouble installing on my bicycle. I compared to other computers and it was right within .2

4 Stars Nice little unit
Got this for my new bike. It’s wired and a breeze to install with the included zip ties. If you’re having issues with the installation go to the cateye website, where there are better instructions than what are included. Only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is because the unit is smaller than I expected and it’s hard to read the smaller letters while you’re riding. Other than that, it works as advertised.

4 Stars cateye cc-vl810
Very nice little unit, easy to install.I would of gave it 5 stars, if not for the calorie counter being so inaccurate.Go to the website caloriesperhour.com and click on bike calories burned, the cateye is about 50 to 60 % off.

3 Stars You need really good eyes!
Probably this miny computer works well, but it’s too small and difficult to read …can you immagine to stop in the street and try to read the information you need?

1 Star Someone tell us how to buy a good bike computer please.
The Vetta RT277 is a bike computer that provides cadence, still can’t get it to work right, and distance and speed (all ok here). I use this on a trainer in my basement…that is proabably all I would recommend it for. IF you plant to use it on the road, buy your own plastic zip ties. The ones that come with the computer are about as cheap and poorly put together as the instructions and the device itself. Altogether, it works but I’m relatively disappointed with the quality of engineering and thought into actual installation and use that went into this device.

1 Star POS
I have had this for several months and still can not get the cadence to work. Don’t waste your money on this POS.

Update – After numerous emails with the mfg’r and the total lack of function of the unit, they finally agreed to replace the unit. Waiting for their response with a non functional unit and about to go on a trip, I bought a Cateye with cadence and it works fine. So much for Vetta. Now let’s see if I can get my money back.

5 Stars Great cyclecomputer
This computer works great. The wiring for the pickup is even long enough to mount the wheel speed on the rear wheel. I was using a wireless computer and having trouble with interference and false readings…this is leaps and bounds better!

5 Stars Works Great!
We’ve had this a few weeks. I purchased for my wife’s bike so she could use it with the indoor trainer.

5 Stars Sigma BC1606L with rear wheel harness
I just bought this item.

5 Stars Love it
Set up took just about 10 minutes. Everything zip ties onto the bike and you are off and running. It should included hte IrDA link but you can pick up a generic one and they work great.

It’s is complicated while riding but you can get tons of info out of the computer once the ride is over and downloading it to the computer is great.

Mark

5 Stars Works fine
The CS 600 works fine with me. It is easy and efficiently to use, much better than some other bike computers I have tried. Reading the manual is not required. Basic use does not require the PC software. However, the CS 600 really shines when using the training program feature, which is only available when using the PC software.

I am using the Cs 600 with the wear link and cadence (WIND) sensors. Setup is easy and range of signal is more than enough. Range used to be a problem with my S710.

I had no problems installing and running the SW on Windows XP except for the drivers for the Polar USB IRD stick. Polar supplies the drivers on a mini CD that my computer could not handle. It took me quit some time to find the correct driver on Polar’s Web site.

I would buy the CS600 again or recommend to a friend.

1 Star Problems with Polar
I so wanted this product to work. In theory, it’s the perfect low-cost alternative to the Power Tap or the SRM. It has great features like its built-in altimeter to tell you how much you’ve climbed. The software that comes with the item is great, letting you visually analyze every ride. This is all well and good. Until it completely stops working. I had three of these computers and they all worked very well at first, but then the power sensor wore out after a few rides. After shipping the computer back to Polar at my own expense, it took Polar well over a month to ship a repaired version back to me. At first I was really surprised that Polar, the biggest name in the business, would have such problems. Now, everyone I talk to about this seems to reacall a similar problem with a Polar product – they work at first, but then wear out due to falty electronics. The company obviously spent money on R&D and marketing this product. It’s too bad they didn’t spend the money to have it built correctly. I definitely don’t recommend this for anyone.

1 Star Polar CS 600 “cycling” computer
What a disappointment this bicycling computer is! It’s far too hard to operate (there is far to many buttons to operate to get the data one needs). As a previous reviewer mentioned, “set up” of this computer is a “nightmare”. The “Pro Trainer 5″ software included with the computer did NOT install properly on my desktop computer running Windows XP.

The 2007 Polar catalog advertised that the CS 600 computer included the “cadence” sensor. After I purchased it, I learned from Polar’s web site that what their catalog advertised wasn’t true. According to them, they had made a “mistake” in their catalog, and their cadence sensor wasn’t included in the purchase price. I contacted my local bike shop, and they made good on my deal with them.

Even though they made good on the deal of the cadence sensor, it has never worked correctly. To sum it up, I haven’t been the least bit impressed with “Polar”. I’ll be shopping around for another bicycle “computer”.

4 Stars I got the power.
I’m really enjoying this new power meter. I thought it was pretty simple to install – took me all of twenty minutes. What other power meter can you install yourself? The technology has a great deal of promise; and the data collected is voluminous. But, as with any advanced training tool, the learning curve is steep.

The head unit is great: compact and attractive, easy to get on and off the mount, easy to control, and quite configurable.

Sure, the power measuring unit itself is a bit clunky and unattractive, but it seems sturdy enough, and the batteries are easy to replace.

The included Polar ProTrainer 5 software is powerful and complicated, as one would expect.

My purchase decision hinged on my past experience with Polar HR monitors, my recent purchase of an RS800 running computer, the self-installation and the low price – - in that order. So far I have been pleased with this product.
